Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) are an important and growing part of the Primary Care workforce. The Primary Care School works in partnership with other teams across NHS England Workforce, Education and Training Directorate (WT&E) to support AHPs in Primary Care.
Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS)
The ARRS was introduced in England in 2019 as a key part of the government’s manifesto commitment to improve access to General Practice. NHS England’s expanding our workforce webpage is a valuable resource for Primary Care Networks looking to embed AHPs in their multi-disciplinary teams.
Paramedic education and supervision programme (PESP)
The Primary Care School and the College of Paramedics are working in partnership to deliver a free monthly programme, encompassing clinical and non-clinical topics, and opportunities for peer support, networking, and reflection.
Why attend PESP?
We recognise there is a transition for all clinicians when first moving into Primary Care. This can create both learning needs and supervision needs, including the need to share experiences with peers and other members of the Primary Care team.
The aim of the programme is to establish an education and supervision programme that supports the learning needs of paramedics new to Primary Care:
- Facilitating a professional network of peer support and learning with small group work
- Identifying and addressing common learning needs of paramedics new to delivering care in General Practice
- Providing educational oversight and professional support
- Promoting the transition to an educational culture, of autonomous learning, by the end of programme
Paramedics within the first two years of working in Primary Care in Thames Valley and Hampshire and Isle of Wight are eligible for the programme and will require release from other duties one morning per month.
How to apply
If you would like to book your place on PESP, please complete the paramedic education and supervision programme (extended pilot) Microsoft Form.
Sessions will be run virtually 9am to 12pm on the final Tuesday morning of the month for 12-months.
