Becoming a Roadmap to Practice supervisor

In support of the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS), allied health professionals (AHP) who want to follow the HEE Roadmaps to Practice, and work within Primary Care, will need a nationally approved supervisor.

Experienced AHPs may wish to be verified as, or become, first contact practitioners (FCP). FCPs are diagnostic clinicians working independently at master’s level, managing complexity and uncertainty at the first point of contact.

To support FCPs, a national Primary Care educational pathway has been created for clinicians moving into FCP roles which may lead to AP status. This will ultimately:

– Provide a pipeline of professionals at different levels of practice

– Help recruitment and retention in primary care

– Create sustainability for multi-professional FCP roles

– Demonstrate the capability of the clinician assuring both patient and clinician safety

A Roadmap to Practice is a supportive document that provides a clear educational pathway from undergraduate to advanced practice for clinicians wishing to pursue a career in Primary Care. HEE have created a new Roadmap to Practice page where all national updates will appear as well as FAQs and details of webinars that will be taking place.

During the course, there will be discussions and activities around different mental health conditions and how to provide practical and emotional support to someone experiencing poor mental health; how to assess and assist with any crisis, and how to best look after your own mental health.

Primary Care Network level approval of Primary Care Educational Learning Environments project

Do you want to be one of the first Primary Care Networks (PCN) to become a unique PCN-level learning environment?

The TVW Primary Care School are pleased to invite PCNs across PCNs across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire West, Frimley and Hampshire and Isle of Wight to join us in an exciting project to develop educational learning environments at PCN level. Historically, management of learning environments has been at individual practice level, which focusses the work on a few individuals within that one practice. With a move to PCN-wide learning environments, PCNs will have the opportunity to host learners across multiple practices, creating an integrated pathway for learning.

The Primary Care School recognise the key role that PCNs take in increasing the workforce in Primary Care and will work with PCN teams to expand their educational capacity to develop and support a sustainable workforce, to grow and support learners across all professions. By taking part in this project, PCNs will receive funds to support dedicated Educator and Administrator time to facilitate the development of a PCN-wide learning environment. Teams will also be able to engage with Primary Care School colleagues to develop innovative learning pathways for their wider workforce learners.

If your PCN would be interested in learning more about this project, please complete the expression of interest form hyperlinked below. The Primary Care School are planning several informational webinars which those who have expressed interest will be invited to attend.
