Behaviour Change Training: Brief and Extended Brief Intervention

A simple conversation can be the start of a positive change.

This evidence-based training supports the development of the knowledge and skills expected at Behaviour Change Level 2 of the Behaviour Change Development Framework, enabling staff and volunteers to have effective, person-centred conversations that encourage healthier choices and improved wellbeing.

The brief and extended brief intervention training builds on the principles of Making Every Contact Count (MECC), participants will learn how to recognise opportunities for behaviour change, use evidence-based communication techniques, explore an individuals readiness to change, and support them to identify their own motivations and goals.

Rather than telling people what to do, the training focuses on recognising teachable moments, asking the right questions, and supporting people to identify their own motivations for change.

This training is fully funded by Hampshire County Council and free to anyone working or volunteering in Hampshire.
