Other opportunities for trainees
Southampton offers many research opportunities, including laboratory-based projects, novel therapeutics and clinical trials. We have very close links with the University of Southampton Clinical Trials Unit and the Southampton Clinical Genetics Service and our trainees have the opportunity to spend attachments with these departments.
A number of our medical oncology trainees have undertaken their Out of Programme (OOP) experience in international oncology centres. Many of our consultants have international links and we are always very happy to facilitate overseas clinical or research experiences.
We support trainees who undertake a postgraduate qualification Doctor of Medicine/Doctor of Philosophy (MD/PhD) during their training or pursue Medical Education Fellowships and Quality Improvement Fellowships.
