Throughout their first year in Wessex, core and specialist training grade doctors must attend a specialty specific Wessex Patient Safety First – Training Day, covering human factors and risks within delegates’ own specialties. Higher Wessex training grade doctors and other Wessex healthcare professionals also regularly attend. The training day forms attendees’ introduction to the Wessex Patient Safety First Programme, leading them to undertake a number of projects.
The programme culminates in this annual conference. The day is an opportunity for all fellows to produce and showcase a poster of their patient safety project, in addition to hearing presentations from a number of keynote speakers.
