Wessex Foundation School draws on the diverse opportunities available within our broad healthcare community to provide many varied and innovative options for the foundation programme. These include training opportunities in all mainstream medical and surgical specialties as well as options to work in general practice, psychiatry, paediatrics, pathology, anaesthetics, intensive care, microbiology, sexual health, public health and many more.
Our specialised foundation programmes offer the opportunity to undertake an academic or medical education post in F2. We also offer psychiatry foundation fellowships and a pathology foundation priority programme.
Wessex Foundation School offer the Enhance Enable programme to all F1 doctors starting from August 2023. More information is available here. We will begin the roll-out of Enhance Explore programmes for our foundation doctors from August 2024.
Wessex Foundation School is well supported by a dedicated team that gives foundation doctors access to many avenues of support including professional careers advice and the Wessex Professional Support and Wellbeing Unit (PSW).
Wessex Foundation School is aligned with the University of Southampton Medical School.
