Cancer and Diagnostics

The NHS England South East Cancer and Diagnostics Programme was established in October 2020. The Programme Team sits within the Workforce, Training and Education Directorate and works with multiple stakeholders to support cancer and diagnostic services by having the right people, with the right skills, in the right roles at the right time.

The NHS England Long Term Workforce Plan was published in 2023, outlining the case for change for all NHS workforce to deliver more patient care than ever before. This plan focuses on three priority areas of Train, Retain and Reform, which aims to make sustainable progress on core priorities for patients. The work of the South East Cancer and Diagnostics programme aligns to these priority areas.
