Vision
The overarching vision for the South East Imaging Academy is to increase numbers of learners and increase the numbers of imaging staff able to enter the workforce. This is being achieved through the provision of enhanced training towards independent practice, supporting a diverse multi-skilled imaging workforce, and taking a co-ordinated approach to the delivery of education and training opportunities.
Development of the South East Imaging Academy has progressed in partnership with SE Imaging Networks and Trusts, with a revised Operating Model being agreed autumn 2022.
Purpose and Scope
The purpose of Imaging Training Academies is to expand and support high quality multi-professional training for medical, clinical and support staff, creating a sustainable pipeline for education and training and ultimately increase the numbers of trained professionals within the imaging workforce.
The scope will include supply and upskilling from undergraduate level through postgraduate level and include ongoing clinical development and maintaining competence and confidence.

South East Academy Hub Sites
The geographical footprint of the South East Imaging Academy is aligned to the geography of the four Imaging Networks.

SE1 – covering Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West, which includes Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Trust [East of England]
SE2 – covering Surrey, Sussex and Frimley
SE3 – covering Hampshire & the Isle of Wight and Dorset [South West]
SE4 – covering Kent and Medway
South East Imaging Academy Governance

The South East Imaging Academy utilises the above governance structure to support the development of training and education in the South East. These groups have various roles and responsibilities including oversight of annual budgets and risk assurance, to the region wide development of multi-professional education and training offers. Membership can include senior educators and director-level Imaging Network representatives, through to faculty practice educators depending on the group.

South East Imaging Academy [SEIA] Learning Management System [LMS]
We are delighted to announce the launch of the South East Learning Management System [LMS].
This platform will be our single point of entry for any South East learner wanting to access SEIA education and training, providing a central location for learners and educators to view what is available, book on to courses, and access resources, recordings and published teaching materials. Registered users will also be able to view what’s on offer from other regional imaging academies, and use the paltform to manage their own learning.
SEIA is committed to ensuring that imaging education and training aligns with, and is informed by service delivery requirements, and works in partnership with the four South East Imaging Networks to facilitate this. Content and course bookings are already available for Clinical Radiologists, Diagnostic Radiographers, Healthcare Scientists, Radiology Nurses, Reporting Radiographers and Resident Doctors, and over the coming weeks and months, the SEIA leadership team and Academy faculty will continue to publish new education offers, courses and content.

Enable training and supervision capacity to be expanded quickly and much more cost effectively.
Enable innovation in training through rapid at scale adoption of technology enhanced learning and new multi-disciplinary learning models.
Accelerate independent working and service delivery productivity of trainees.
Enable more geographical equity in the distribution of training and hence the health professional workforce.
