Recognition of Supervisor process
It is imperative that educational and clinical supervision is only provided to resident doctors by GMC recognised Educational and Named Clinical or Project Supervisors.
If a supervisor is not recognised, the GMC could decide this period of training does not count towards CCT and the resident in postgraduate training could have to extend their training time.
It is equally important for the resident to check that their supervisors are GMC recognised, for every post. This information can be gained by asking the supervisor directly or by checking the GMC Medical Register.
When completing the process of becoming a supervisor your details are included in the Wessex Supervisor Database and will be used to communicate information by the NHSE quality team and your organisation relating to renewals, supervisor activities, and surveys such as GMC NTS and NHSE NETS.
