HEE Wessex and the South-East region are piloting a new programme of teaching to enhance generalist skills for early career doctors. This is part of the national HEE ‘Enhance’ programme.
The pandemic response required healthcare professionals to respond to change on a system level and to work, learn and communicate across traditional boundaries. The initial rapid changes have led to a focus on more long-term population needs, for which healthcare professionals must both acquire new and enhance existing generalist skills as an integral part of their professional development.
The South-East pilot will focus to developing and delivering four new teaching modules to enhance transferable skills and career development:
- Advanced communication skills
- Complex decision making
- Structure of the NHS
- Human Factors
A series of workshops will be piloted in June and September 2022 in Wessex with a future rollout across the wider south-east region.
Early career doctors can register to attend the teaching and view draft programmes:
Advanced Communications Part 1 – 14th June 2022, 10:00 – 16:00
Structure of the NHS – 21st June 2022, 10:00 – 16:00
Advanced Communications Part 2 – 28th June 2022, 10:00 – 16:00
