Public Health Advanced Practitioner Scoping Project

Background and Purpose
The survey is collecting data for the ‘Public Health Advanced Practice Development Project’ which is sponsored by the People in UK Public Health (PiUKPH) Group and funded by Health Education England (HEE), with representatives from the four nations. The purpose of the project is to scope and gather intelligence about advanced public health practice in the UK and inform possible solutions to help support workforce development needs. The PiUKPH Group is an Advisory Group which provides independent, expert advice on the public health workforce to the governments of the four UK nations.

Target Respondents
The employer survey is open to any organisation that employs public health practitioners (registered or non-registered) for whom public health is the primary part of their role. The person who completes the survey will need to have knowledge about the public health practitioners working within the organisation.

The employee survey is open to any employees for whom public health is the primary part of their role.

Public health practitioners work autonomously i.e., they are responsible for decision making in their day to work rather than being directly supervised and may work in one or more of the public health domains (such as health improvement, health protection, health care public health) and in a wide range of settings from the NHS and local government to the voluntary, academic and private sectors.

Public health specialists and members of the wider public health workforce are out of scope.
