Our training aims to support local systems as we work together to deliver the vision of the NHS People Plan. It focuses on developing skills in Workforce Planning and Transformation. It will help to prepare workforce and service leads to deliver the Integrated Care System outcome-based People Functions in:
• Leading coordinated workforce planning using analysis and intelligence
• Leading workforce transformation and new ways of working
Six Steps Approach to Strategic Workforce Planning
The methodology is tried, tested and recognised as the health care sectors’ approach to strategic workforce planning.
• It can be mapped to any workforce need, both clinical and operational.
• It provides a framework to identify those elements that should be in any workforce plan, taking account of demand for services, local demographics and budget plans.
It is a simple tool used by HEE to structure facilitated workshops and bring discipline to conversations. A Star workshop is run by a trained facilitator and helps groups/systems to address an identified workforce challenge. Star workshops enable participants to use the five enablers of workforce change: supply, upskilling, new roles, new ways of working and leadership to determine responsive workforce transformation solutions.
